History
This Club was formed at the end of 2008, from two long established ‘brother and sister’ clubs: Malden and Coombe Bowling Club (Established in 1933 for Men) and Manor Park Ladies Bowling Club (County affiliated in 1960).
Before merging, the two Clubs shared the same green, played in mixed matches together and enjoyed the same tours and social activities. In 1993 Manor Park Bowls Management Association was formed (with elected members from the two clubs) and took over the lease of the ground and buildings. Highly committed Club members formed working parties to extend the Clubhouse and install up-to-date plumbing and electrics. Financial help from the members was supplemented by ‘National’ and ‘Sport England’ lottery grants. Malden Manor Bowling Club took over the responsibilities of Manor Park Bowls Management Association and started its first playing season in 2009.
Today
Our current membership is approaching 130 members and consists only of current Club and past Club bowlers. Although we have no ‘Social Member’ category, we do have a very active social side, where friends and family are always welcome. Social activities include Darts, Table Tennis, Card and Board Games, Square Dancing and an annual Dinner Dance.
Bowling is encouraged at all levels and our Club coaches are available to give individual help when asked and regular training sessions for new bowlers.
We play in several leagues (some mixed) and friendly matches (some mixed). Players are encouraged to enter County and other outside competitions, as well as our own Championships. The Club has a summer tour on alternate years and winter tours abroad.
